Pistoia has been the capital of organs and percussion instruments since the 16th century. The area of Tuscany gave rise to the tradition of organ builders, following some kind of chain: the blacksmiths, the artisans, the art, the organs.
The cymbals of the Italian Cymbal Manufacturers Union of Pistoia – dating from 1931 – are the most prestigious and famous in the world.
