I’m ready to go rafting!
This is the first of the three bridges.
The water is really cold, only 11 degrees.
I don’t usually get into the water unless the temperature’s at least 30.
So, do you know how to swim in a river?
You swim stretched out, allowing yourself to be carried along, with your legs in front of you.
It’s a lot of fun.
Here we go!
Wow, that’s cold!
That’s beautiful! Apart from the temperature…
We’re going towards the river’s head for something to drink.
I thought there’d be a bar, but instead it’s a spring.
It’s like the one you see in a nativity scene.
This water is really good and cold.
Let’s go up now to see the old tunnel!
It’s difficult to imagine how they could have dreamt of getting a train through here!
It took a lot of years for them to find the right path.
This tunnel is almost entirely carved into the rock.
Look at the beautiful spring!
You mustn’t touch the layers of limestone,
otherwise the finger oils we leave on them will stop them from growing.
Water is the common thread in Umbria’s greenery.
There’s the green Umbria above and the karst Umbria below.
It’s a land rich in springs and water,
something that is little known about and somewhere that’s rarely visited by tourists.
We want people to get to know this place more!
I resume my journey by bike.
Land!
I’m the first to exit the water directly on two wheels.
Onwards, in the direction of Spoleto.
