Blast from the past: Thiene 1492

A great historical re-enactment, every year in September and October

Thiene 1492 is a historical re-enactment that takes place at Thiene, a town near Vicenza, every September and October. The event commemorates the granting of free-market by the old Venice Doge. The first edition dates back to 1992, 500th anniversary of this event.

The event lasts two weekends: in the first there is a big street parade with the re-enactment of the historical facts about Doge Agostino Barbarigo’s concession and the following Battle of Rovereto. In the second weekend there is the great European Renaissance Market with stalls, shows and country activities.

You will walk among the nobles, burghers, merchants, artisans, peasants, jesters and peasants of the 16th century.
