The Medici Villa of Poggio Imperiale

Syusy Blady takes us on a tour of Florence’s magnificent and historically rich Villa Medicea di Poggio Imperiale. From its beginnings as the Pazzi Conspiracy-affiliated Baroncelli villa, to its confiscation by Cosimo I de’ Medici, who gave it to his daughter Isabella for her grand celebrations.

After more than two centuries, a boarding school with pupils from all over the world has called the villa home. We will examine the restoration process and have the opportunity to interact with historical personalities associated with this location, including Isabella and Maria Luisa de’ Medici, the Electress Palatine, who gave the Medici estate to the State, enabling us to appreciate this priceless treasure.
