The Cetacean Sanctuary
Area of Mediterranean Sea between Liguria, Tuscany and Sardinia inhabited by whales
The area of Mediterranean Sea between Liguria, Tuscany and Sardinia is a Cetacean Sanctuary, inhabited by whales and sperm whales.
The structure of the sea is particular: there is no continental shelf and the depth of the sea reaches 2.000 metres, so that the water turn over is very fast. There are optimal conditions for the survival of the cetacean!
To sight the whales you just have to look at the horizon. As soon as you spot them, be careful to respect them: switch off motors, do not disturb them and do not interrupt their passage. If you annoy them, they could become dangerous: even a small movement of the tail can capsize your boat!
